We are fortunate to have some incredible educators in our city and we're even more fortunate to have them right in our backyard. David White, Principal of Burgess-Peterson Academy (BPA), won the Principal of the Year Award from Atlanta Public Schools. David became principal at BPA in 2015 and has been working to make the school's vision a reality ever since.

He has been with Atlanta Public Schools for 25 years. “BPA continues to become the neighborhood school of choice and a compelling traditional public school option for the child of any family living in East Atlanta Village and Reynoldstown", said David. He is most proud of BPA’s work toward authorization as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme school.

"Serving our city, my neighborhood and my community school as the Principal has been the biggest honor of my life" said David.

Prior to leading the team at BPA, David taught for several years at the elementary level in Gwinnett County and Atlanta Public Schools. He held a variety of leadership roles in schools and central office positions. Originally from East Tennessee, David now resides in East Atlanta and loves living and working in our community.

"The best part of my job is the kids for sure. We have the smartest, most beautiful kids in town and they make me laugh every day and make me want to do good work every day. A close second is my team. They have the best staffing plan I've ever worked with. I'm very proud of them". Congrats David!!

Should I Sell My House This Year?

What Growing Housing Supply Means for Current Homeowners

While growing inventory has clear benefits for buyers who are craving more options for their home search, what does that mean for current homeowners like you? It gives you two distinct opportunities in today’s housing market. According to the latest data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the supply of homes for sale has increased consistently this year as homeowners list their homes for sale and the pace of sales is moderating in response to higher mortgage rates (see graph below):

Source: NAR

Opportunity #1: Take Advantage of More Options for Your Move Up:

If your current house no longer meets your needs or lacks the space and features you want, this gives you even more opportunity to sell and move into the home of your dreams. With more houses on the market, you’ll have more to choose from when you search for your next home. Partnering with a local real estate professional can help make sure you are up-to-date on the homes available in your area. And when you do find the one, that professional can advise you on how to write a winning offer to seal the deal.

Opportunity #2: Sell While Inventory Is Still Low Overall

Despite the growth, inventory is still low compared to historical norms, and that isn’t going to change overnight. For you, that means your house should still be in demand if you price it right and could be exactly what buyers are looking for.

Bottom Line: If you’re a homeowner looking to sell, you have a unique opportunity to benefit from the additional homes being listed today and still sell your house while inventory is low overall. Let’s connect to get started so you can have the best of both worlds.

EAV Cafe Opening Soon

EAV Cafe is opening soon near the intersection at Flat Shoals and Glenwood. As a former barista at Joe's Coffee Shop himself, Ray Jones, is looking to bring more food options to East Atlanta Village. He served coffee at Joe's for about a decade and is excited to open up EAV Cafe.

In a recent interview, Ray mentioned, "there has really never been a breakfast spot in this location... and it's something that has been needed for a while due to all of the foot traffic". According to permits, EAV Cafe will be about 1,200 square feet. They plan to have benches and picnic tables outside since there will not be seating inside.

The takeout restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and light dinner options. If you're looking for a beverage, they will have espresso drinks and smoothies to choose from. On the breakfast menu, you can expect a pancake breakfast option and plenty of delicious breakfast sandwiches to choose from. They will also have a rotisserie for ribs, brisket, and chicken - yum!

A few highlights from the menu:

East Atlanta Classic - 2 eggs any style, choice of meats, and choice of sizes potatoes or grits and choice of bread $9.00

EAV Classic Split Sandwich - Red Hot Sausage served with Spicy Mustard, lettuce, and tomatoes on Texas Toast $9.00

EAV Cafe is occupying the former florist shop and plans to open soon. They are still waiting for their business license to be finalized by the county and look forward to opening officially. Ray is thankful for everyone's support and is excited to open.
