THE NEIGHBORHOOD RECEIVED ITS NAME FROM ITS PROXIMITY TO THE INTERSECTION OF PONCE DE LEON AND NORTH HIGHLAND AVENUES IN THE 1970'S, WHEN THE CITY OF ATLANTA IMPLEMENTED THE NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING UNIT (NPU) SYSTEM.
